What are they?

They are not the typical scientific experiments that you are thinking of because this is (lucky for me) a writing class. Instead, we are taking a piece of writing from our past and turning it into a new project, with three parts. Each part of the Experiments has to be a different medium and different approach to your original launch piece. My original work was a simple brainstorming activity from a Creative Writing class I took a sophomore year. They asked about our first love and, bitter because it was near February, wrote about a more undervalued type of love: friendship. I took this overarching theme and created three separate, but interwoven pieces that I share with you below. Each experiment includes an introduction, genre analysis/inspiration, sketch/outline, my sample (because these are unfinished pieces), and my reflection. The first experiment is a short story about a "meet-cute" between two future best friends and roommates. The second experiment is my friendship version of the romantic One Direction song "Little Things." Lastly, my third experiment is an Instagram, @howimetmybestfriend, which features submissions and a few personal stories about real life meet-cute between friends.
